NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Trying to find ways to save money amid rising food costs?
What if we told you there’s a way to get a meal or even a dozen bagels in New York City for around $5?
Too Good to Go is a certified B Corp social impact company founded in Copenhagen in 2016. It helps millions of people while reducing food waste. The company works with businesses to save surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, allowing consumers to enjoy good food at great prices.
The app is free to download. After creating an account, users can browse local restaurants and businesses that offer "surprise bags." These bags may contain surplus meals or specific types of food products, such as pastries and bagels from bakeries.
Users can plan accordingly by viewing the scheduled pickup times for the store and saving their favorite restaurants for easier access during future purchases.

Upon arriving at the participating restaurant, you will be asked to show your purchase on the app and swipe the in-app slider as proof of your reservation. The employee will then hand you the surprise bag, and you're good to go!
