NEW DELHI: In a remarkable achievement in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans' openers

Sai Sudharsan

and

Shubman Gill

have etched their names in the history books. They became the first opening pair to score individual centuries in the same match. This outstanding performance was showcased against the Chennai Super Kings.
Both Sudharsan and Gill displayed exceptional batting skills, dominating the bowling attack with ease.

Their partnership was a spectacle, as they sent the ball across the boundary numerous times.
Gill was the first to get to the milestone as he slammed his fourth IPL century off 50 balls while Sudharsan also notched up his maiden IPL century off on the same number of deliveries.
Both batter perished soon after their centuries in a bid to accelerate the scoring rate. Gill's 104-run knock was studded with 9 fours and 6 sixes. Sudharsan on the other hand, slammed 7 sixes and 5 fours during his 103-run innings.

This was the first time in the IPL when both the opening batters slammed centuries simultaneously. Jonny Bairstow and David Warner of SRH became the first opening pair to achieve this milestone, with Warner reaching his century after Bairstow's dismissal.
The pair also put on a mammoth 210-run for the opening stand equalling LSG's openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul's partnership record against KKR in 2022.
The innings by Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill was marked by a mix of aggressive shots and smart cricketing strategies. They managed to keep the scoreboard ticking while also ensuring they did not lose their wickets cheaply.
The Chennai Super Kings' bowlers struggled to find an answer to their partnership, which eventually led to a memorable day for the Gujarat Titans.
