Ruturaj Gaikwad may be fit for selection in third Test vs England

Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who suffered a ring-finger fracture in the second ODI during India’s tour of South Africa recently, should be available for selection from the third India-England Test, which will be played in Rajkot from Feb 15-19. The 26-year-old scored a century against Australia in T20I in November last year but is yet to make his Test debut. Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran is set to get a lifeline in India’s squad against England as a back-up opener, with Rohit Sharma and Yashavi Jaiswal being the frontline openers.

Eashwaran is in the India ‘A’ squad for a 2-day warm-up fixture & first multi-day game against England Lions.
