Run over by boyfriend's car, Maharashtra woman demands 'attempt to murder' case

A 26-year-old woman, who sustained injuries to her entire body after her boyfriend allegedly tried to mow her down with his car near a hotel in Thane, spoke exclusively to India Today/ Aajtak and shared her ordeal. In her remarks, she demanded the addition of stringent IPC sections against the accused, who is a senior bureaucrat's son. Notably, Thane Police has filed a case against the accused, Ashwajit Gaikwad, under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 279 (rash driving), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, the girl is demanding the addition of stringent section 307 (attempt to murder) in the case.
