Rs 44,278 crore aid to farmers: CM Eknath Shinde

MUMBAI: Chief minister

Eknath Shinde

told the state assembly that his government had provided aid worth Rs 44,278

crore

to farmers in the state over the last 1.5 years. This has been towards tackling calamities like drought, hailstorms and flooding.
He said the government has set up a task force on the issue of farmer suicides and also provided a bonus of Rs 20,000 for paddy farmers.

He also said that the government had provided a loan waiver of over 4 lakh farmers. However, 6.5 lakh farmers were still to gain the benefit of the farm waiver owing to technical issues. These were being addressed as soon as possible, Shinde said.
