NEW DELHI:
Rohit Sharma
made his 250th IPL match memorable by achieving yet another milestone during Mumbai Indians match against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on Thursday.
The former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit went past
Kieron Pollard
's record of most sixes for MI in the IPL. Rohit now has 224 sixes to his name as he smashed three sixes during his 36-run knock of 25 balls.
Rohit got to the milestone when he deposited
Harshal Patel
over long-on in the 11th over of MI innings.
Rohit's shot seemed like a mishit, but to everyone's surprise, the ball sailed over nonetheless.
He couldn't help but smile broadly as he exchanged fist bumps with Suryakumar Yadav, clearly enjoying the moment.
Rohit also completed 6500 runs in IPL becoming fourth batter to do so after Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner.
Earlier, Rohit achieved a significant milestone, becoming only the second player after MS Dhoni to participate in 250 Indian Premier League matches.
Rohit, who began his IPL journey in 2008 with the now defunct Deccan Chargers, has been with MI since 2011 and took the franchise to five IPL titles.
Dhoni, who tops the list, has so far played 256 IPL matches.
