NEW DELHI: Winning a World Cup trophy is a moment to cherish for any sportsperson in his entire life and it seems no player other than Indian captain
Rohit Sharma
understands the value of winning it.
In a video that went viral on social media in no time captured Rohit's affection for the trophy. In the video, he can be seen meticulously wiping the
T20 World Cup
trophy with a tissue paper, demonstrating his deep appreciation for the prestigious award.
Rohit's heart-warming gesture was in a stark contrast to what Australian all-rounder
Mitchell Marsh
had done after winning the ODI World Cup title last year in India.
Marsh drew flak after his image with his feet resting on the World Cup trophy became a huge talking point on social media.
The Rohit-led squad, that won the title after defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final last week, arrived in Delhi early on Thursday morning after being stranded in Bridgetown, Barbados for five days due to a category 4 hurricane.
The team was later hosted by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi
for breakfast at his residence. The Indian team then left from New Delhi around 3:42 pm to Mumbai where a grand victory parade brought the city to a standstill.
The Wankhede Stadium was thrown open to fans, who filled up the stands within minutes to celebrate the Indian cricket team's title triumph last Saturday.
