NEW DELHI: India skipper
Rohit Sharma
on Thursday became the first-ever player -- non wicketkeeper -- to grab 60 or more catches across all three formats of the game.
Rohit got to the landmark on the opening day of the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala.
The India skipper now has 60 catches in Tests, 93 catches in ODIs and 60 catches in T20 internationals.
With the catch of Mark Wood in the second session of the day off Ravichandran
Ashwin
at first slip, Rohit grabbed his 60th catch in the traditional format.
After Rohit's feat, India bowled out England for 218 in the final session on Day 1 with
Kuldeep Yadav
grabbing a fifer and Ashwin picking up four wickets.
Amid a blistering start from the openers, India reached 135 for one at the close of play on opening day.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal fired 58-ball 57 before falling late in the day, skipper Rohit remained unbeaten on 53 alongside Shubman Gill, who was on 26 at stumps.
India trail by another 83 runs.
The hosts already have an unassailable 3-1 lead in the 5-match series.
