NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- A formerly incarcerated New York state assembly member called Robert Brooks' death "a modern-day lynching."

New York State Assemblymember Eddie Gibbs joined PIX11 to discuss the death of Brooks. In videos released by Attorney General Letitia James, Brooks can be seen being beaten by correction officers.

"What I saw on footage was just horrific. We watched murder on footage, it was a modern-day lynching to me," Gibbs said.
