QUEENS VILLAGE, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A masked man pointed a gun at a worker's head before robbing a Queens deli Thursday morning, according to the NYPD.
The gunman went into the Quick Stop Deli & Grocery at 223-24 Union Turnpike in Queens Village at around 9:45 a.m. and threatened the worker after demanding money, police said. The suspect fired one shot in the store, sending three employees running to the back of the deli.
The deli manager told PIX11 News he tackled the thief after the shooting and the bullet grazed one of the workers. But police did not report any injuries. Officers found a 9mm shell casing at the scene.
The robber, dressed in all black, then ran out of the back of the store and was last seen running south on Union Turnpike with an unknown amount of cash, according to the manager and the NYPD.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
