KULLU: Two days after a couple of men had fallen into the

Beas river

during a

scuffle

triggered by road rage, a joint team of the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force on Wednesday afternoon recovered the body of the

Punjab tourist

at Brindabani in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district.
The deceased was identified as Amandeep Singh, a resident of Punjab's Jalandhar.

Around 7.30pm on Monday, Amandeep and Ganga Ram, the driver of a tempo, had fallen into the Beas following a scuffle about overtaking at Brindabani, on the Chandigarh-Manali highway. While rescue personnel were able to retrieve the body of Amandeep, they couldn't locate Ganga Ram, till the time of going to press.
"Both Amandeep - who was returning from Manali with his family in a car - and Ganga Ram, were stuck in a traffic jam at Brindabani when the argument took place. They stepped out of their vehicles and began fighting along the highway. During the scuffle, both fell into the river below," a police officer said.

"The spot from where they fell has steep rocks and the possibility of his survival is bleak. Though the water level in Beas is low these days, it's extremely cold, especially during the night," said an official.
