(GIFT) is the prerogative of the government, which takes into consideration several factors in the interest of business.
“Revenue is not the sole consideration of the government. It takes into account the boost that trade and business will get from people coming from other states and countries and the best decisions in their favour are taken accordingly. I welcome the decision taken by the government,” he said.

Patel made the statement while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function organised by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation in the city. The remarks come a day after the government announced relaxations for liquor consumption in the GIFT City.

To a question on the similar demand of traders in the Surat Diamond Bourse, imitation traders of Rajkot, and the ceramic industry of Morbi to “boost” their businesses, Patel said, “It’s not my subject but the government will take a proper decision whenever such demands are raised. The chief minister will take an appropriate decision.”

Meanwhile, former Gujarat CM Shankarsinh Vaghela welcomed the relaxation, saying that the prohibition policy was hypocrisy.
