Saba Azad is a singer and an actor. The audience has seen her in both the roles, but what many may not know is the fact that she is also a voice-over artist. She has lent her voice to several ads. Now, in a series of Instagram stories, the actor shared that it has been years since she got an opportunity to do voice-overs. The reason is her relationship with Hrithik Roshan.
In her Instagram Stories, Saba mentioned that she was finally back to doing voice-overs after almost two and a half years. She recalled how, at one point in time, she would do 6-7 voice-overs in a month, and it kept dwindling to the point that she had not worked for years. This happened despite her never saying that she was quitting, or hiking her fees.
In one story, she explained how a reputed director told her that he thought she wouldn’t be interested in something like a voice-over, given that she is in a relationship with Roshan. She doesn’t spell it out, but she wrote, “Well, you can imagine what was implied... He didn’t think I would do a job like a VO given where you are in life, ie who I am dating.” She also calls him ‘super progressive, chill’ person.
She continued, “Are we really still living in the dark ages where we assume a woman in a relationship with a successful partner no longer has to put food on her own table?? Or pay her rent and bills? or take pride in her work and take care of herself and her family??? What kind of an archaic assumption to make (sic)??”
“So I basically lost a whole career that I absolutely loved and appreciated cause people thought I didn't need to work anymore??? This is sadly a one dimensional patriarchal and regressive mindset (sic),” she wrote.
She concluded, “For the uninitiated, when two strong independent individuals come together they don't give up their identities or this lives and careers to do so. They hold on to their individuality and share from a place of freedom and strength. Losing a whole career because of someone else's presumptuous ignorance really hurts. So again, no I haven't quit, all ye makers of ads- I still do VOs. So pls for the love of god undo your assumptions and let's get recording already (sic).”
Saba Azad and Hrithik Roshan have been in a relationship for quite some time. They have made their relationship public. While Roshan was earlier married to Sussanne Khan, Saba Azad was dating Imad Khan.
