NEW DELHI:

Afghanistan's cricket team

will be without their star spinner

Rashid Khan

in the upcoming series against India. Khan underwent a back surgery in November last year and is still in the process of recovering.
This news comes as a blow to Afghanistan, as Khan's presence and skills have been instrumental in the team's success in the past.
In a pre-match press conference, Afghanistan captain

Ibrahim Zadran

expressed his disappointment over Khan's absence, stating that the team would miss him during the series.

"He is not totally fit. We will miss him in the series. We will struggle without Rashid but one should be ready for any kind of situation," Zadran said.
Despite Rashid Khan's injury, the team is at full strength for the series. Players like Mujeeb Zadran, Naveen-Ul Haq, and Fazalhaq Farooqi have resolved their contractual issues with the country's cricket board and are available for selection.
This will provide some relief to the team as they aim to put up a strong performance against India.

The series against India holds significance for both teams, as it marks the return of

Rohit Sharma

and

Virat Kohli

to the T20 format after a gap of 14 months. Their performance and form will be closely observed, especially with the T20 World Cup approaching in June.
This three-match contest will serve as a crucial opportunity for the Indian team to assess their position and gain more clarity on their strengths and weaknesses before the ICC event in Americas.
Although Afghanistan will miss the presence of Rashid, they will undoubtedly give their best and strive to put up a tough fight against India.
