KL Rahul's name wasn't even considered for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which India won 4-1 under Shubman Gill's captaincy.
However, the selectors have included KL Rahul for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting August 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
On Friday, KL Rahul took to social media and posted a workout video with a two-word message: "More soon."
KL Rahul last played an ODI match in December 2023 against South Africa, while his last T20I appearance was against England in November 2022.
In 75 ODIs so far, KL Rahul has scored 2,820 runs at an average of 50.35, with 7 centuries and 18 fifties to his name.
India will also play three T20Is on the Sri Lanka tour, but KL Rahul has been considered for ODIs only.
