NEW DELHI: Congress leader

Rahul Gandhi

on Thursday made a serious accusation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister

Amit Shah

, claiming that they were "directly involved" in what he called the "biggest stock market scam" that resulted in retail investors losing Rs 30 lakh crore.
Rahul Gandhi has demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) investigation into the matter.
During a press conference, Rahul pointed out that the

stock markets

experienced a surge following the release of "fake" exit polls, only to crash on June 4, the day the Lok Sabha poll votes were counted. He emphasized that this was the "biggest stock market scam" and that retail investors suffered a staggering loss of Rs 30 lakh crore.
"For first time we noted that during polls, Prime Minister Modi, home minister Shah, finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commented on the stock market," he said.

Rahul alleged that BJP leaders had prior knowledge that the exit polls were inaccurate and demanded a JPC probe into the matter.
The

Congress leader

further alleged that individuals in higher positions within the BJP orchestrated this stock market scam and that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah were directly involved.
