TIRUPATI: Two-time

YSRCP legislator

Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy faces a tough opponent in the form of Nandyala

Varadharajulu

Reddy of the

TDP

as he makes all-out efforts to secure his hat-trick victory at the prestigious

Proddatur assembly

constituency in

Kadapa district

.
Proddatur, hailed as the "Mumbai of Andhra" for its booming bullion trade, is a semi-urban assembly constituency made into a stronghold of the YSRCP, which secured two consecutive victories from here on a trot in the 2014 and the 2019 elections.

Rachamallu, known for his extensive public outreach in trying to help anyone who knocks on his door with a problem, has cemented himself as a strong mass leader at the Proddatur assembly constituency.
The TDP, which remained in complete tatters for almost a decade when

Rachamallu

secured his back-to-back victories, has now pitted five-time ex-MLA

Nandyala

Varadharajulu Reddy against him.

While Varadharajulu Reddy has accused Rachamallu of being the most corrupt MLA Proddatur has ever seen, by pointing fingers at the abnormal rise in the YSRCP MLA's wealth in the last decade, Rachamallu dared the opposition to prove their allegations by claiming that he would openly alienate any such additional property, which was not declared by him, if the opposition proves it.
Speaking to TOI, Rachamallu stated that the TDP, which stands no chance of winning at Proddatur in the upcoming elections, is resorting to a baseless smear campaign, as they very well know that the people of this constituency, who received immense benefits through various welfare schemes launched by the YSRCP, were inclined to once again pledge support to the ruling party led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's strong leadership.
