Puri Jagannath temple's Ratna Bhandar reopens today after 46 years

PURI: The Ratna Bhandar of the

Jagannath Temple

in Puri will reopen on Sunday after being closed for 46 years, allowing officials to conduct an

inventory

of the ornaments and other

valuables

stored there.
After being closed since 1978, the treasury will reopen today at 1.28pm.
"The Ratna Bhandar of the Jagannath temple will be reopened today at 1.28 pm," stated Justice Biswanath Rath, the chairman of the committee formed by the state government to supervise the inventory of the treasury’s valuables.

This decision was made during a committee meeting held in Puri.
Members of the committee, including Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Arabinda Padhee, will visit the treasury after its reopening.
The former Orissa High Court judge also mentioned that a temporary place to store the valuables during the inventory process has been identified.
