Panel for action against juvenile board members for 'procedural lapses' in granting bail to minor

NEW DELHI: A probe panel has recommended action against the members of the

Juvenile Justice Board

for

procedural lapses

in granting

bail

to the

minor

involved in the

Pune Porsche crash

which killed two engineers in Pune.
The panel's

investigation

highlighted several

irregularities

in the process, prompting calls for

accountability

.
The probe revealed that the board members failed to adhere to established

protocols

while processing the bail application.

This has raised concerns regarding the proper functioning of the Juvenile Justice Board in such critical cases.

There was public outrage when the JJB granted bail to the minor under lenient conditions, which included writing an essay on the accident and working with the traffic police for 15 days.
The Bombay high court ordered the release of the minor accused in the Pune Porsche accident case on June 24th.
The court deemed the remand order illegal and nullified it.
Justices Bharti Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande, who granted the minor relief, said that while the accident was unfortunate, he could not be detained in an observation home.
