In an engaging conversation,
Priya Mani
opens up about her unforgettable experience portraying a National Award-winning character in the movie 'Paruthiveeran' and shares heartwarming insights into her enduring friendship with actor
Karthi
, who made his acting debut in films with 'Paruthiveeran'.
Recalling her time working on the film, Priya Mani beams with nostalgia, exclaiming, "Oh, lots of memories with the film; I can write an autobiography about it.
I can write a book about it." She delves into the challenges they faced, shooting for an extensive 160 days amid extreme weather conditions. The camaraderie between Priya Mani and Karthi took shape during the initial month of shooting. "Karthi and I never had vanity vans; we only had cars; I remember both of us having
Ambassador cars
. So, we used to take a rest in the Ambassador car, put the AC on, and sit inside our respective cars. And then again, in the evening, at about 5.30 PM, we were called again for two shots. So, this happened for one month. Probably, that was the idea of Amir sir to get us used to the atmosphere and the thing of a village. How rural it can be and how the body language is supposed to be, kind of thing. And then, after that, we started shooting the scenes. That's when we went into the depths of the characters. Yeah, as I said, one day, if we didn't finish the scene in one day, we used to come back the next day. Wait for the same light to come, then finish the scene. But today, when we see the film, all the hard work is definitely paying off. So, hats off to and thanks to Amir sir for that," she recalled.
Transitioning to her co-star Karthi's debut film, Priya Mani reflects on his growth as an actor over the years. "Oh, he has grown so much. He is a sweetheart," she says affectionately. The two actors, both Geminis with birthdays a week apart, share a special bond. "We call each other Gemini twins because he is also Gemini like me. I wish him first, and then he wishes me on my birthday. And he is always there for me. I mean, in the sense that he is a true friend. If you need anything, especially anywhere in Tamil Nadu, any problems you have, anything. Not only that, it may not be a serious problem. You may just require some; I am just giving an exaggerated hypothetical. Like, say, I want a sweet from somewhere, a halwa from somewhere. If I call him and say, Karthi, can you please arrange? He would do that immediately. So, that's how sweet he is. And his whole family is like that. Surya, Shivkumar sir, and their father are also like that. But yeah, Karthi is that friend you can bank on if you need anything. If you are going through any trouble or anything, you just give him a call, and he is just there to help you out. And I am so happy with his progress, too. Seeing all the films that he has been doing. I have been closely watching all his films online. And again, if there is a chance that I could get to collaborate with him again, I would love to," she concluded.
