NEW DLEHI: Punjab Kings co-owner
Preity Zinta
on Friday lambasted a section of media houses for spreading fake news regarding her franchise and
Rohit Sharma
.
Zinta's retort came after a story, titled 'Will bet life to get Rohit Sharma as captain', quoting her went viral on social media.
Since Rohit's removal from the leadership role at Mumbai Indians and Hardik Pandya taking over, constant speculations have been made over the former's future at the franchise.
There have also been reports, claiming that Rohit might leave the franchise after this season.
And amid constant chatter involving Rohit's future, the 'fake' article associating him and Punjab didn't go down well with Zinta.
#Fakenews ! All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste. These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties ?? All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024. Thank you," Zinta wrote on X.
On Thursday, Mumbai pipped Punjab by 9 runs in a thriller in Mullanpur, securing their third win of the season.
MI are currently at the seventh spot on the points table while Punjab are languishing at the 9th spot with 5 losses in 7 games.
