Additional Special Public Prosecutor Jayna Kothari, who has been representing the special investigation team (SIT) probing into sexual abuse charges against Prajwal Revanna, has tendered her resignation on Tuesday.
Kothari said she was appointed Additional SPP on May 8 to appear before the Karnataka High Court on behalf of the state government in the sex scandal case being probed by SIT.
The resignation letter was addressed to the Deputy Secretary to Government, Home Department.
Prajwal Revanna, who was arrested by the SIT on his return to Bengaluru on May 31, is presently in judicial custody till June 24.
Prajwal Revanna has been booked in three cases of sexual assault. There are also charges of rape against him.
The cases of sexual abuse came to light after pen-drives containing explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna were reportedly circulated in Hassan, ahead of polling in the state during second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26. Thereafter, Revanna was suspended by the JD(S).
Prajwal Revanna also failed to hold on to the Hasaan seat in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections.
