Expect

Nag Ashwin

’s

Kalki 2898 AD

starring

Amitabh Bachchan

,

Kamal Haasan

,

Prabhas

and

Deepika Padukone

to set box office on fire right from day 1. The film, which is mounted on a reported budget of Rs 600 crore, is one of the most expensive films ever made in Indian cinema.
The film is set in a distant future where only one city, which also happens to be the oldest city,

Kashi

is left for humans.

But the seeds of the story has its roots in Mahabharata as Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of

Ashwatthama

, who had been cursed by Lord Krishna to live till the end of time.
The buzz for the film is so high that it is expected to take a massive start at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the film for its day 1 advance booking has now reached Rs 50.86 collection. Out of total collection, the film has earned Rs 44 crore by selling over Rs 16 lakh tickets while the rest of the amount has come from block bookings.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been the biggest contributors to the overall collection with Rs 13.32 crore and Rs 20.78 crore respectively. The makers had to take special permission from courts to increase the ticket prices for the film. With still more than 12 hours to go for the first show to kick off in India, there are chances the film might cross Rs 60 crore mark by then, while many trade experts are predicting Rs 100 crore opening for Kalki 2898 AD.
