THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Police in the Bronx are trying to find a group of suspects who’ve been robbing victims at gunpoint of their mopeds.
Police want you to look closely at this video, just released, of two suspects they believe are involved in the series of moped robberies across three different police precincts and neighborhoods in the Bronx over the last two months.
The robberies took place between Jan. 17 and Feb. 4 involving up to six suspects using cars to target victims riding mopeds.
The first robbery took place at 1975 Birchall Avenue in the Van Nest section at 8:55 p.m. on Jan. 17.
Police say six suspects got out of a gray sedan showed a gun and a knife and forcibly removed a 27-year-old man from his moped before flying northbound on Union Port Road in the 49th precinct.
“This is happening everywhere,” Althea Hall, a neighbor, told PIX11 News. “Crime is up everywhere. We need more police we needed,” she added.
The second incident was less than an hour later on the same night near Belmont Avenue and East 189th Street in the 48th precinct same MO but this time the three suspects police say were in a white car.
And then more than two weeks later the third incident took place in the 40th precinct on 169 Cypress Avenue at 8.40 p.m. on Feb. 3. The next day, at 368 Jackson Avenue another moped was taken from a victim at gunpoint by 5 suspects at 1 p.m.
