IRVINGTON, N.J. (PIX11) -- The search is on for a man who police said sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy in Irvington, N.J.

PIX11 News saw surveillance video of the man approaching the 11-year-old and dragging him from the front of the house to the side. We will not show you the video because it is disturbing, and the family asked us not to broadcast it. We have learned that the perpetrator took the child to the back of the house and threatened to kill him if he made any noise.

“It is really sensitive, and it’s really new, and I’m very upset and still,” the mother of the child, who we are not identifying, speaking exclusively with PIX11 News. “You know my son told me he told me what happened in front of my door.”

According to the Irvington Detective Bureau, the child was walking his dog on Ellis Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. The family told PIX11 News that the suspect waited when the boy was about to enter the home.

“My son being strangled in front of my house; he was taken right over there, yes, to the back,” the mom said.

And that is when the man allegedly sexually assaulted the little boy. Sources told PIX11 news that this might not be the only case of sexual assault involving this suspect.

“I’ve heard it happened to another child. I pray for them; I hope that person also heals and they get the help they need,” they said.

Other parents in this community are alarmed, knowing that the perpetrator remains at large.

“It will be so close to you, and you will never know, right? It’s crazy people out here. I’m devastated, wow,” stated a resident.

The individual wanted by police is being described as a stocky build black male, about 6 feet tall and around 250 pounds, with long dreads. The mother of the 11-year-old boy is asking for everyone to come together to catch him.

“Go ahead, spread the word,” she said.
