Police officer injured in Staten Island hit-and-run; suspect at large: NYPD

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A police officer was injured in a hit-and-run on Staten Island Thursday morning, according to the NYPD.

It happened on the West Shore Expressway at State Route 44 around 8:37 a.m. A man driving a sedan crashed into a marked NYPD cruiser that was parked, according to authorities.

A 31-year-old officer in the cruiser was transported to Staten Island University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man in the sedan, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and gray sweatpants, fled the scene on foot, police said.
