PM to lay foundation stone of AIIMS Rewari today; inauguration of 6 other AIIMS next week

NEW DELHI: The Centre is all set to dedicate six new

AIIMS

across the country ahead of upcoming elections, in addition to laying the

foundation stone

of AIIMS Haryana’s

Rewari

.
According to health ministry sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rewari on Friday to lay the foundation stone of AIIMS.
To be built at a cost of about Rs 1650 crore, AIIMS Rewari will have facilities including the hospital complex with 720 beds, medical college with 100 seats, nursing college with 60 seats, AYUSH Block with 30 beds, residential accommodation for faculty and staff, hostel accommodation for UG and PG students, Night Shelter, Guest House, Auditorium etc.

The Institute will also have facilities for intensive care unit, emergency & trauma unit, sixteen modular operation theatres, diagnostic laboratories and blood bank among others.

Later, on February 20 and February 25, the

PM

is expected to visit Jammu and Rajkot (Gujarat) respectively to dedicate the new AIIMS that are already operational. The PM will also dedicate four other AIIMS built in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh among others. “In the last six months, 29,000 permanent faculty and other professionals have been hired across all AIIMS to meet the manpower needs,” said a source in the health ministry.
