Australia's Travis Head hit a 24-ball 62 to lead the batting assault after Hyderabad batted first and went past the previous IPL best of 263/5 by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013. Abhishek Sharma, who reached his half-century in 16 balls, also contributed 63 off 23 balls.

Gayle was named Player of the Match for his record-breaking innings.

Kohli finished on 109 runs off 55 balls, his innings included 5-fours and 8-sixes whereas De Villiers smashed 129* runs off 55 balls. The target proved to be too steep for GL who were restricted to 104 in the 19th over. De Villiers was named Player of the Match for his stellar innings.

Back in the 2010 IPL, CSK were handsomely riding on Murali Vijay’s 127 runs and got to a score of 246/5 against the inaugural winners RR at MA. Chidambaram Stadium. This remains the fifth-highest score in IPL.
