UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- "Peter and the Wolf" is becoming a holiday classic often as popular as "The Nutcracker" and "A Christmas Carol." And now there is a version set in New York City that’s wowing audiences of all ages.

It was created by Isaac Mizrahi, a world famous fashion designer, actor, singer and entertainer, and it is set smack dab in the middle of Central Park.

Mizrahi created this version of Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" to be fun and New York centric with an anti-gun violence message.

"Isaac designed it, created it and designed all the costumes,” said Caroline Cronson, the producer of this "Peter and the Wolf." "This teaches children all about the musical instruments."

Each character in "Peter and the Wolf" is represented by a musical instrument, with the narrator Mizrahi reading the story between the musical interludes.

Choreographer John Heginbotham created the moves for each character.

“The cat is a Bob Fosse character and the bird is a ballerina,” said Heginbotham. "And Peter is a kid who has access to TikTok."

All six performances over the weekend at The Guggenheim are sold out because families keep coming back.

"I just love the artistic nature and the joy my children get from watching people dance and watch live music,” said Jenna Hirsch, a mother. "Of course, Isaac Mizrahi, love him."

“I love the choreography and the instruments. It was amazing,” said 14-year-old Elyana Oustatcher.

And if you wonder what happens to all the characters after the wolf is taken to the zoo, check out "Third Bird," another Works & Process production at The Guggenheim on Dec. 14.
