Person shot on Brooklyn subway: NYPD

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) - A person was shot on an A train near Brooklyn's Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street subway station Thursday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

A person was in critical condition after the shooting about 4:45 p.m., and police put one person in custody, according to police and the FDNY.

Officers found a gun on the scene, according to the NYPD.

Northbound A trains were not running from Broadway Junction to Jay Street, and all A train service was "severely disrupted," according to New York City Transit.

C train service was suspended Thursday afternoon. G trains were running but skipping Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets in both directions.

Subway safety has been a key focus of Gov. Kathy Hochul and city authorities after a string of high-profile crimes, including back-to-back shootings on Bronx subways.
