ELMHURST, Queens (PIX11) – A person was fatally struck by a train near the Elmhurst Avenue station Monday morning, according to the FDNY.
A man was pronounced dead just after 11 a.m. after being struck by a northbound train on the M and R line, according to the NYPD.
E, F, M and R train service was “severely disrupted” after the person was struck, according to officials.
E, F and R trains are running with severe delays in both directions, officials said. Northbound E and F trains are running on the local track from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to Forest Hills-71 Av.
The MTA encourages straphangers to take the No. 7 train. Commuters in Queens can also take the Q53-SBS, Q23 or Q60 buses.
The LIRR will cross-honor MetroCard and OMNY cards from Jamaica to 34th Street-Penn Station and Grand Central-42nd Street.
