Person beat with metal pipe in anti-LGBTQIA+ attack in Brooklyn: NYPD

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A person was beaten with a metal pipe during an anti-LGBTQIA+ attack in Brooklyn on May 13, according to the NYPD.

The victim, who is gender non-conforming, was sitting on the steps of their home in Williamsburg around 3 p.m. when they were approached by two men, according to authorities.

The men allegedly made anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks toward the victim. The suspects then picked up a metal pipe and struck the victim in the head, police said.

The victim suffered from bruising to their head. The men fled the scene to parts unknown, according to authorities.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Unit is investigating.
