10 months ago 14

The staff at Jamnagar's state-run GG Hospital on Thursday prevented a fire sparked from a lighted bidi from snowballing into a major tragedy by dousing it in time.
The incident was caused by a patient who was so

desperate for a puff

that he forgot he was on

oxygen support

in the

respiratory intermediate care unit

(RICU). Sources said the man, who was admitted for respiratory and cardiac illness, got someone to sneak in a bidi for him.
Deepak Tiwari, medical superintendent of GG Hospital, said "One patient received a minor injury and all other patients are safe."
