Pakistan government's X account withheld in India in wake of Pahalgam attack

NEW DELHI: Pakistan government's X account was withheld in India on Thursday. This comes after tensions escalted between New Delhi and Islamabad after the terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 28 deaths.
Access to the official ‘@GovtofPakistan’ account on X (formerly Twitter) has been blocked in India, with users seeing a message that the account has been withheld due to a legal request.
Meanwhile, the Romeo Force of the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) continued operations for the tenth consecutive day in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, combing through the Lasana forest area to track down militants. The search follows a firefight on 14 April, which left one soldier injured. Authorities have intensified vigilance along Highway 144, with 24/7 checkpoints and strict vehicle checks to prevent disruptions.
Tensions remain high following the brutal

on Tuesday, where 28 tourists, including one Nepali citizen, were killed at Baisaran meadow. It marks one of the deadliest strikes in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.

In response, India has announced a series of diplomatic and strategic countermeasures targeting Pakistan for its alleged support of cross-border terrorism. These include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, shutting down the Attari check post, revoking SAARC visa exemptions, and ordering Pakistani officials to leave India within 48 hours. Defence and military advisors have been declared persona non grata, with further diplomatic downsizing to take effect by 1 May.
Foreign secretary Vikram Misri outlined these measures at a press briefing on Wednesday. Later today, an all-party meeting chaired by defence minister Rajnath Singh will take place to address the situation.
