NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Dozens of New York City Housing Authority employees were arrested Tuesday following a federal investigation, officials said.
These arrests mark the largest number of federal bribery charges brought on a single day in Department of Justice history.
The people impacted the most are the more than 400,000 NYCHA residents, many of whom are now waiting for repairs.
Darlene Murphy called it the “House of Floods.” She lives at the Douglass Houses on the Upper West Side, from leaks in her apartment to the roof of her building falling apart. She said she’s not surprised but outraged about the latest news of bribery and extortion offenses allegedly done by NYCHA workers—the people who are supposed to fix all of this.
