NEW DELHI: Ever since
Hardik Pandya
took over the reigns of Mumbai Indians from
Rohit Sharma
, fans and cricket pundits have been pretty vocal about the manner in which the captaincy changed hands at one of the most successful IPL franchises and have been blunt in expressing their displeasure.
Be it the booing of Hardik at various venues and on social media or the crowd rallying behind Rohit, the captaincy change move from MI hasn't gone down well.
And to go with that, various reports speculating Rohit might move to a different franchise next season have added fuel to fire.
With Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants admitting to having Rohit in their side will be a massive bonus, former India cricketer
Ambati Rayudu
too jumped in on the Rohit's speculated move debate, saying that MI didn't treat him well during the entire captaincy switch saga.
"It's Rohit Sharma's call. Wherever he wants to go, he can go. All the IPL teams would love to have him as the captain. I am sure he'll go to a franchise that maybe treats him better than what has happened here," Rayudu said on a Star Sports show.

Rohit led MI to five IPL titles before the franchise late last year announced that a returning Hardik will take the baton from the opener in
IPL 2024
.
MI started the 17th edition under Hardik with a hat-trick of defeats and finally had their first win of the season against Delhi Capitals at their home last week.
