Oshi No Ko
season 2 has officially been confirmed to have 13
episodes
, 2 more than the first season. This is according to the official Blu-ray and DVD listing for season 2. Despite having the increase in episodes, the season will likely be the same length as the first season overall, since the first episode of season 1 ran the length of approximately 90 minutes, equivalent to 2 or 3
anime
episodes.
It's most likely that
season 2
will follow the traditional episodic format that most anime do, with around 20 minutes per episode.
Adapted from the manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi No Ko follows the story of a doctor named Gorou Amamiya, who spends most of his time talking about his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino. One day, she suddenly appears at his hospital, and reveals that she is pregnant and has to deliver the baby secretly so that the media doesn't find out. Gorou agrees to help her, but is killed by an obsessive fan on the day of the delivery, and finds that he has been reincarnated into Aqua, Ai's son, alongside Ruby, his twin, who was also reincarnated from a past life. 4 years later, Ai is tragically murdered. Aqua, convinced that her death had something to do with the twins' unknown father, sets out to discover the identity of their father and bring him to justice.
Oshi No Ko is a wonderfully emotional anime that explores the dark side of the entertainment industry, with supernatural themes and thrilling romance drama on the side. The anime gained popularity in part due to the opening theme Idol, produced by Yoasobi, which was the first Japanese song in history to top global billboards.
Season 2 will be about the 2.5D stage play arc, otherwise known as the Tokyo Blade arc, where Aqua joins a stage play with the goal of learning how his parents met. However, he ends up caught between his friends Akane and Kana's rivalry.
