Oppo
has expanded its mid-range F-series with a new smartphone in India. The latest
Oppo F25 Pro 5G
starts at Rs 23,999 for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB model is priced at Rs 24,999. The Chinese smartphone maker claims that this is the slimmest 5G smartphone with an IP65 water and dust-resistant rating. The smartphone is available in two colours -- Lava Red and Ocean Blue -- and can be purchased via Amazon, Flipkart as well as Oppo’s official online store and other authorised retail stores in the country.
We have been testing the 128GB variant of the Oppo F25 Pro in Lava Red colour. Here are our first impressions of the phone.
Design
With a thickness of 7.54mm, the Oppo F25 Pro has a sleek and stylish design. Weighing at 177 grams the smartphone is lightweight and can easily fit in any pockets. The phone also offers a decent look and in-hand feel. The company claims that the phone’s chassis is made out of a polycarbonate resin mixed with glass fibre as a reinforcement material.
The overall look is a combination of matte, flat sides with rounded corners and a smooth polished back that changes colours with light. The phone’s Sunshine Ring camera panel houses the triple-rear camera sensors and the LED flashlight.
Coming to the front, the smartphone’s display houses the front camera in a centrally aligned punch hole and the in-display fingerprint sensor placed near the bottom bezel. Oppo claims that the display is protected by doubly reinforced Panda Glass for strength, scratch resistance and durability.
The power and the volume buttons are placed on the left rail of the phone, while the right spine houses the dual SIM tray. Meanwhile, the USB-C port and the speaker grille are located at the bottom rail of the phone. With an IP65 rating, the company claims that the smartphone has the highest level of dust protection and can withstand water jets from all directions.
Display
The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch borderless AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ resolution. The display felt sharp and was able to produce vivid colours. The touch response and scrolling experience of the phone also felt very smooth. With a peak brightness of 1100 nits, the smartphone display is bright enough for outdoor usage even on a bright sunny day.
Camera
The Oppo F25 Pro 5G has a triple rear camera setup which includes a 64MP OIS-enabled main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro unit. The performance of the main and the ultra-wide camera was quite decent.
The smartphone was able to produce sharp colours and offered a decent dynamic range. However, the macro camera’s performance doesn’t seem to be on point. The phone also clicked decent low-light photographs and the portrait blur isn’t much overwhelming.
On the front, the 32MP selfie camera also clicks decent images and offers a decent video calling experience. The selfies clicked by the front camera were also sharp and colourful.
Both the rear and front cameras can also record stable and clear 4K videos at 30fps. The smartphone also supports dual-view video recording.
Performance and Battery
Powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, the smartphone can handle games and apps without breaking a sweat. We haven’t noticed any lag or stutter during the initial stages of testing. The UI offered by the Android 14-based ColorOS 14 is also user-friendly and easy to navigate. The fingerprint and face unlock also felt snappy and responsive. The smartphone’s 5000mAh battery easily lasts over a day and supports 67W SuperVOOC fast charging that can fully charge the smartphone in a little more than 45 minutes.
What we think
The smartphone can be a good option if you’re in the market looking to switch to a new 5G smartphone in the sub-25,000 budget. The Oppo F25 Pro has a sleek and stylish design, a decent camera as well as overall performance along with a massive battery. During our initial testing, we couldn’t pinpoint on any major flaw of the smartphone. For more insights, you have to wait for our detailed review.
