Oppo
will soon roll out AI (artificial intelligence) features for the Reno 11 smartphone series with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Slated for launch in the second quarter of 2024, the Reno 11
smartphones
will feature OPPO's AI Eraser along with other
generative AI
functions powered by the company's proprietary large language model, AndesGPT.
Earlier this week, Oppo rolled out new
AI features
for its smartphones in China with the
ColorOS
New Year Edition update. With the
Reno 11 series
, the company intends to expand its generative AI features to more
global markets
. Oppo Reno 11 was launched in India last month, i.e., January.
"In the era of AI smartphones, both the mobile phone industry and user experience will witness revolutionary changes," said Pete Lau, OPPO's Chief Product Officer. "OPPO is dedicated to becoming a contributor and promoter of AI smartphones."
The new AI features on the Reno 11 series will include intelligent object removal in photos, phone conversation summaries, and more. The company says that this shows their focus on developing consumer-centric AI products that deliver the latest innovations directly into users' hands.
The
AI object removal
in photos will be similar to Google’s Magic Eraser, removing unwanted objects or people in the background by selecting a specific area. According to OPPO, it can detect and remove various objects, people, and scenery. It's a great tool for fixing photobombed photos without using complex editing software.
The
AI Call Summary
feature, as rolled out in Oppo smartphones in China, generates transcriptions and timestamps after phone calls. With this feature, users can quickly review important details talked on the call without having to take manual notes.
Oppo also improved its AI assistant, available on the Chinese version of ColorOS. Oppo's Xiaobu smart assistant in China now uses generative AI to improve its dialogue and handle a broader range of queries and commands. The upgraded Xiaobu Photo Studio can generate AI images and customised New Year greeting cards. These enhancements make Xiaobu a versatile platform for both productivity and entertainment.
