Mayank clinched back-to-back Player of the Match awards for his match-winning spell of 3/27 on his debut against Punjab Kings before his scorching spell of 3/14 helped LSG register a 28-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The 21-year-old's searing pace has become the talk of the town as he also bettered his own record of 155.8 kph for the fastest ball of this season, unleashing a 156.7 kph delivery against RCB.
Mayank disclosed that during the game in Bengaluru, the fans continued to support him despite his efforts hampering the home side's chances of victory.
He shared a touching moment with the Bengaluru crowd while fielding near the boundary after completing his spell.
"I'm feeling very good. I heard RCB have a big fan base, and a loyal fan base, but after my spell, when I went to the boundary, everyone was cheering for me a lot.
So, that was one thing that I liked a lot. Everyone was supporting me," Mayank said on LSG's official Instagram account.
After his match-winning performances, Mayank is being seen as the potential pick in India's squad for the T20 World Cup.
"At this stage, he is looking hot and I have no doubt selectors will be looking at him as a potential guy in the team but that is none of my business. To my understanding, he will definitely be looked at as a potential pick," South Africa and Punjab Kings pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada said.
