One dead, multiple injured as crews battle deadly fire in Manhattan: FDNY

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Fire crews are responding to a three-alarm fire on the Upper East Side Monday evening, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out at a six-story building at 526 East 82nd Street around 7:15 p.m., officials say.

There was a heavy body of fire originally on the 5th and 6th floor in multiple apartments, fire officials said. The fire spread to the fourth floor.

Around 138 fire personnel and EMS responded.

One civilian has died, according to fire officials. The deceased was found in a hallway.

Six firefighters sustained minor injuries.

Fire personnel are conducting multiple searches as there is a lot of debris as a result of the fire. The fire is still under investigation.

Individuals displaced by the fire will be sheltered, officials say.
