On-duty police officer struck while escorting motorcyclists out of Central Park: NYPD

CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) – An on-duty police officer was struck while they were escorting motorcyclists out of Central Park on Friday, according to the NYPD.

It happened near West Drive and West 90th Street around 4:05 p.m. The officer, riding a marked police scooter, was attempting to lead three people on motorcycles out of Central Park, police said.

One of the suspects then struck the officer, causing the officer to fall to the pavement, according to authorities. The motorcyclists fled the scene.

The police officer was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for minor injuries.
