Ride-hailing service
Ola
recently launched its first public-facing
AI model
Krutrim. However, some users who started exploring the AI model have reported about getting some unexpected responses. Several users took to social media platform X (previously Twitter) to reveal that Ola newly-launched AI model
Krutrim
has told them that it’s made by
OpenAI
, the company behind its rival
ChatGPT
.
The model offered these responses when users asked who it was created by. Several users reported seeing these results within hours of the model’s release.
Krutrim’s ‘surprising’ reply to users
An X user named Raghav Arora wrote: “Something seems super fishy. KrutrimAI says it was created by OpenAI.”
He even shared a screenshot of him asking the model “Who are you?”, to which the model replied “I am an artificial intelligence created by OpenAI”.
Another X user named Jason Samual also reported seeing similar results. When this user asked a similar question, Ola’s
Krutrim AI
model replied: “Yes, my large language model is developed by OpenAI…OpenAI created me.”
Some users also started trolling Krutrim and claimed that it was just a “wrapper” around OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This suggested that Krutrim was passing on user questions to ChatGPT, and was sharing the OpenAI-made chatbot’s answers as its own.
Other users also questioned Krutrim’s valuation for which the company has $50 million at a valuation of $1 billion.
What the company has to say
Ola Krutrim
acknowledged the responses offered by its AI model and said that the replies were caused by a data leak from an open source dataset on which the model had been trained.
Krutrim’s official X handle wrote: “Thanks for sharing this, it is very helpful and will help improve our product. We investigated the issue and found the root cause to be a data leakage issue from one of the open-source datasets used in our LLM fine-tuning.”
The company quickly fixed the problem as we at TOI-Gadgets now when tried giving the same prompt and Krutrim AI replied that it was built by Ola Krutrim.
