Bhavish Aggarwal

, the co-founder and CEO of

Ola

, has announced his latest project,

Krutrim

, touted as "India's first full-stack AI" solution that has been built for Indians and India.
Krutrim means "artificial" in Sanskrit. According to the company, Krutrim is "an AI model of our own, built on local Indian knowledge, languages, and data." The model will come in two sizes – a base model and a larger, more advanced one called

Krutrim Pro

, which is set to launch early next year.

Krutrim understands 20 Indian languages
The base Krutrim model has been trained on two trillion tokens, which includes subwords used in conversations and datasets. The model understands 20 Indian languages and can generate text in 10 Indian languages, including Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Oriya. The company says that Krutrim offers a larger Indic language support than even OpenAI's GPT-4.

An even more advanced AI model, Krutrim Pro, is slated to release next year
Krutrim Pro, on the other hand, is designed for advanced problem-solving and task execution, although the details of its features are not yet fully known.
Aggarwal believes in developing an AI model that is based on India's own knowledge, languages, and data. He is of the opinion that AI has the potential to transform our economic and cultural lives. Instead of relying on Western products, India should create its own AI technology. Aggarwal is confident that India can build an AI model that is unique and tailored to its specific needs and challenges.

"AI will transform everything, and touch our economic, and cultural lives so deeply. This time instead of using Western products, India will build our own!" Aggarwal said.
Krutrim Si Designs

was founded in April 2023 by Aggarwal and Krishnamurthy Venugopala Tenneti. Tenneti is a board member of ANI Technologies Ltd, the parent company of

Ola Cabs

and

Ola Electric
