MORRIS HEIGHTS, The Bronx (PIX11) – A news conference regarding the Bronx building collapse will be held Monday morning, according to The Legal Aid Society.
The organization, along with Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat and City Councilmember Pierina Sanchez will be joining the tenants of 1915 Billingsley Terrace to make an announcement.
The building at 1915 Billingsley Terrace partially collapsed in December of last year. Over 100 people were displaced as a result of the collapse, according to officials.
Witnesses at a bodega on the first floor recalled hearing a cracking sound when the building collapsed.
An investigation into the collapse revealed that the building had a long history of violations and pending fines. In addition, city officials suspended an engineer's inspection authority due to a "catastrophic" mistake made at the collapsed building.
The news conference will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Bronx.
