Off-duty police officer shot in Queens: sources

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – An off-duty police officer was shot in Queens early Sunday morning, sources told PIX11 News.

It happened near 21st Street and 43rd Avenue around 6:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. Police said a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg.

He was taken to a local hospital, according to authorities.

Sources said two people of interest were taken into custody. The NYPD towed a gray Nissan near Union Street and 33rd Avenue in connection with the shooting, according to sources.
