NYS transit, electric and gas not damaged by earthquake: Gov. Hochul

NEW YORK (PIX11) – There was no significant damage caused by Friday's earthquake and aftershocks in New York state, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The state's utility companies reported no issues with electrical or natural gas systems.

Careful examination of tunnels, bridges and railroad infrastructure found no issues, according to the MTA. The Port Authority also inspected the runways at airports and found no problems.

The original 4.8-magnitude earthquake was followed by at least 25 aftershocks.
