NYPD shuts down chaotic Versace sample sale in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- NYPD officers shut down a Versace sample sale in Manhattan on Wednesday due to overcrowding.

Videos shared on social media show lines wrapping around the block of people waiting to access the sale located at 125 West 18th St. The event was heavily promoted on Tiktok and X, leading to a massive turn-out.

The 9 a.m. sale was briefly shut down by police officers but reopened later without incident, according to reports.

The sale was set to continue into the weekend, however, the sample sale organizer shared in an Instagram story that it is now closed to the public.
