NYCHA accepting applications for Section 8 housing voucher waitlist: How to apply

NEW YORK (PIX11) – NYCHA is now accepting applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides rental aid for low-income families.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federally-funded program administrated by NYCHA. Section 8 rental vouchers help low-income families afford rent when searching for housing in the private market.

How to improve your chances to win affordable housing in NYC

People can now apply online here to join the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program’s waitlist in New York City. The application period will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on June 9.

After the application period ends on June 9, a total of 200,000 applications will be randomly selected through a lottery to join the waitlist for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Applicants will be notified when the waitlist has been established. People will be able to check the status of their applications by logging into NYCHA’s Self Service Portal.
