NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Since late December New York City has slowly been gaining more sunlight each day.

In January, the city gained 46 minutes of sunlight from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, according to the NOAA's Solar Calculator. It's forecasted that February will gain 69 minutes of sunlight, with earlier sunrises and later sunsets. By Feb. 29 the city will see 11 hours and 16 mins of daylight, over an hour more than January.

Thankfully, “the darkest” day of the season already passed, on Dec. 21, 2023.
